Hi y’all,
I am excited to share with you a new, fun writing prompt to play with this week. The concept is simple. Select a piece from your writing (an essay or a poem). Then, whichever one you choose, rewrite that piece in the opposite style. For example) Turn that poetry piece into an essay or turn that essay into a lyrical poem.
I love that this prompt invites us to approach our go-to writing style from a completely different angle. How would your essay change as it is told in a poem? Or how would that poem evolve when rewritten as a long-form essay?
I hope this prompt stretches our writing comfort zones and reveals something new in our words as we transform the text into something other than what it was.
So, take your time selecting a piece you want to try, rewrite it, and see where it takes you! Feel free to share how this was for you in the comments. I can’t wait to hear!
Love, Megan
